About Heymat

Heymat, a Norwegian design brand for door mats, was founded in 2016 by the couple Sonja Djønne and Thoralf Lian. They brought with them extensive experience from the professional mat industry to create high-quality products for the home. In collaboration with renowned designers, Heymat creates door mats for both indoor and outdoor use, combining Scandinavian design with exceptional craftsmanship, focusing on both style and functionality. Made from high-quality, sustainable materials, Heymat mats fit seamlessly into any thoughtfully designed interior, offering both durability and beauty to the home's entrance.

Heymat’s vision is to "redefine the concept of door mats, turning them from simple necessities into design elements that complement home interiors." Heymat is appreciated by design enthusiasts worldwide and is available in Europe, the USA, and Asia.

Design brief

Heymat wanted to explore the possibility of developing a new doormat of the Heymat+ quality. They sought design proposals that could bring something new to the existing collection, while still visually harmonizing with Heymat.

About Studio Sløyd

Studio Sløyd consists of industrial designers Herman Ødegaard and Mikkel Jøraandstad, a Norwegian design duo who have made their mark on the Norwegian design scene. Studio Sløyd is rooted in Nordic design traditions and environmental awareness while challenging established perceptions of Norwegian design culture. Through their work, they explore the properties and tactility of materials, experimenting with objects' construction, structure, and color down to the smallest detail.

Their sophisticated use of wood, metal, and textiles has resulted in collaborations with leading Norwegian manufacturers. Studio Sløyd has also gained significant attention at both national and international exhibitions and has received several awards for their distinctive designs.
