This is Designer's Saturday 2017

The Designers Saturday idea was dreamt up by enthusiastic industry insiders who brought the concept over from New York in 1986. Since then, the event has been arranged every other year. Designer's Saturday Oslo is the only national exhibition in Norway, dedicated to furniture, textiles, lighting, flooring and other interior and design related products aimed at both industry professionals and the wider design aware public. A free bus service is available to attendees; simply jump on and off the bus where you want. 190 cutting edge Norwegian, Scandinavian and international exhibitors will display their latest offerings at 36 locations across Oslo city centre.

Designers Saturday Oslo is not a run-of-the-mill event hosted in some national exhibition Centre rather an important arena for professional practitioners wishing to keep updated and informed on the latest trends, developments and products. Furniture intended for public spaces is increasingly used in private homes, which is why the general public has been invited to take part in Designers Saturday over the last years, we even gave the event its own label: Public Sunday.

--> To participate in Designers Saturday 2017 all you have to do is register as a visitor and we´ll send your admition pass by email. Start the route wherever you want and take our free DS-busses around the city. See our digital map and exhibition list to make your own list of showrooms to visit sent to you by SMS or email. Saturday and Sunday is for you working in the industry (designers, producer, press etc.) while Sunday is for the general public.

Designers Saturday Awards

Designers Saturday Oslo instigated Designers Saturday Awards in 2007. The awards serve to heighten interest in interior architecture and give students and experienced professionals’ alike, recognition of design excellence and quality.

Best Interior

Design competition; interior decorations of public space. A jury of experts chooses between the works of norwegian interior designers. The award serves to heighten interest in and promote the importance of interior architecture in the Norwegian public sector.

Best Talents

Through this competition, Designer's Saturday hope to give emerging designers a chance to show their talents to potential employers in the industry, to the trade press and the general public. Designers Saturday aims to foster creative and new ideas, which will hopefully result in collaboration between designers and manufacturers.

Opening ceremony

Welcome to the opening of Designers Saturday 2017 at Salt Arena!
After a fantastic opening ceremony at Oslo National Academy of Arts In 2015, we have this year moved to Salt Arena. The opening of Designers Saturday 2017, which marks its 30th anniversary this year, will be held in one of the spectacular constructions called “artic pyramid”. Vice Mayor Rina Mariann Hansen is specially invited together with Brit Ismar, interior architect MNIL, who is one of the founders of Designers Saturday Oslo.
In good tradition we will honor our colleagues in the competitions Best Talents and Best Interior. The jury chairmen, Jonas Stokke and Anne Heinsvig, will announce the winners and hand over the awards. We offer local snacks and drinks in unique surroundings and hope you take time to celebrate the opening of Designers Saturday 30 years together with us.
